Detective Rose had never been the 'artsy' type, but when his Significant Other finagles her way onto the board for the revitalization and rebirth of art with the defunct Smoot Theater, he had a not so pleasant surprise. It came along with a plea to solve an extortion problem. He could have said 'no', should have said 'no way!', but saying 'no' to Ginger has never been a strong point for him. Simple extortion quickly escalates: destruction of property, kidnapping, and questionable deaths becomes murders. It's more ground than Rose can cover. Thus, 'The Gent', an associate of Rose joins the investigation. Deadly action abounds, theater drama and exotic dancing are the least of Abel Rose's worries. His priority is simply staying alive.
