Levi Pender cannot seem to do anything right. While the young retail whiz kid tries to save his failing discount department store in Ottawa, his life begins to slowly unravel. Between a messy relationship with an employee that stretches the boundaries of workplace ethics and an employee suggestion box filled with gripes by a staff tired of his unorthodox management techniques, it seems that Levi has enough on his plate. Unfortunately, his troubles are just beginning. It is Christmas, and Dollar Daze of Canada's sales are down. Surrounded by inept lower management, Levi soon discovers he cannot rely on anyone but himself. To top it off, Levi's landlady's barn is reduced to ashes under suspicious circumstances. Suddenly, Levi is caught in a nightmare between a wannabe singer and a hostile member of his local indie rock band, the Slip Kids-just as love calls at work in the form of a troubled female toy department manager. In this whimsically funny tale of romance, restlessness, and rebirth, Levi must join forces with an eclectic group of characters to save everyone from disaster-including himself.
