Gathie Falk is known across Canada for her often surprising works of art. She starts with familiar things and transforms them; she combines the ugly and the beautiful and gives the viewer a new perception of ordinary objects with her piles of ceramic fruit, green ceramic cabbages, thermal blankets, installations of bones and shoes, large paintings in pure bright colors, and performance art pieces. Gathie is never afraid of experimenting with new media, nor is she put off by hard work. Talking about her childhood experiences, beliefs and her work, she emerges as a warm, vital person very much engaged with the world.
