From Library Journal The word "guide" in the title accurately summarizes the scope of this publication. The concise encyclopedic format and broad subject range render it a useful handbook, especially for the novice parent. The topic arrangement adheres strongly to the chronology of pregnancy, childbirth, and child rearing. The photographs and illustrations are of very good quality and complement the text nicely. The brief chapter on children with problems, such as physical handicaps or sexual abuse, is the only element that separates this book from the scores of similar books containing sound and practical advice on becoming and being a parent. However, for libraries with demand for titles on childbearing and child rearing, this is a bargain at the price.- K.E. Megginson, VA Medical Ctr.
