From Library Journal This is an exhaustive view and catalog of works by the German sculptor Heinz Mack (b.1931), compiled with his cooperation. The book is thematically arranged--lines, cubes, mirrors, light, water, etc.--to show the artist's generally large-scale geometric and minimalist works. The catalog (compiled by Anja Bagel-Bohlan) lists over 1200 works, some illustrated with small images, most with references to the main photographic series. Honisch's essay is broad and difficult to grasp, beyond obvious infelicities in the translation from the original 1986 German edition. Still, the book represents an impressive body of work. For advanced collections on 20th-century sculpture with funds to rebind after the first use.- Jack Perry Brown, Ryerson and Burnham Lib., Art Inst. of ChicagoCopyright 1989 Reed Business Information, Inc.
