Environmentally ubiquitious, volatile halogenated alkanes and alkenes are used as solvents, chemical intermediates, food fumigants, refrigerants, and anesthetics, and are also found in air and water. This volume reviews the use, occurrence, carcinogenicity, and DNA adduct formation of these chemicals, and presents methods for analyzing 24 of them, emphasizing biological monitoring and workplace air.
