This first monograph on the career of conceptual artist Marie-Josée Laframboise is structured around a series of landmark pieces exhibited across the country from 2008 to 2010. Using materials such as netting, nylon, fabric and thread, Laframboise creates new environments out of preexisting spaces and transforms rigid architectural boundaries into ingenious constructions that are as immaterial as they are overwhelming. Merging her interests in mathematics, architecture and drawing, Lagframboise subverts our preconceived notions of space and the ways in which we negotiate territory. Collaboratively produced by three institutions, this beautifully-illustrated, oversized publication contains two essays and an interview with the artist.
