One of the most appealing features of this text is the way in which it combines basic knowledge of cell biology with some of the most recently published research findings. The authors deal with each of the main cell organelles in some detail and at a level suitable for the undergraduate student; wherever appropriate they move strongly into areas of current research, emphasising the fact that this is a dynamic and evolving subject and that speculation and controversy are vital parts of scientific enquiry.
