Presents five studies on aspects of union-management relations, such as union representation, financial consequences of unionism, and wage determination and conflict resolution in unionized enterprises in North America, as well as four papers on university degree programs in human resources management and industrial relations and the extent to which the programs provide students with skills currently in demand by employers. Specific topics include employee acceptance of the crew chief program in the postal service, union wage determination in the US auto assembly industry, 1970-1999, and developing new proficiencies for human resource and industrial relations professionals. Lewin teaches in the Anderson School of Management at the University of California-Los Angeles. Kaufman teaches economics at Georgia State University. This volume lacks a subject index. c.
