Author Description

Working With African American Males examines the special issues associated with providing mental health and guidance services to African American males. Besides facing struggles with social and economic problems common to many, African American men as a group experience a higher rate of murder, imprisonment, unemployment, lack of education, and racism than any other group. The contributors to this book write from their varying perspectives as educators, psychiatrists, anthropologists, sociologists, psychologists, and social workers to provide a broad, interdisciplinary view of the possible solutions to the different problems facing African American Men.
