This book contains essays that record and evaluate a number of experimental productions throughout the world from 1968 through 1974, arranged in three categories: dramatic pieces with acting and characterization, performances that do not make use of acting, and the new dance. Roughly half of the twenty-four essays in the collection are devoted to performances in the United States.
