It contains an undated introduction by Donald Swann and the 1990s version also contains a further foreword from Claudia Flanders and Alison Swann written in 1996, and a note from Leon Berger about changes in the newer edition. There is an Afterword which is a previously unpublished poem/lyric by Michael Flanders. The music in the book is for piano.
