Complex clincial problems usually require a spectrum of laboratory investigations intially to aid diagnosis and subsequently to monitor disease and treatment. This book provides a practical guide to the investigation of biochemical disorders with a focus on the major metabolic disorders. The book has two major sections; one containing algorithms for investigations of specific abnormalities and the other protocols for the investigative tests included in the first part. For each disorder succinct background information and a few key references and/or web addresses are provided. The book employs an easy-to-follow problem-based approach using algorithms to help guide the reader through the differential diagnosis of a particular condition.
