This proceedings volume from the 1999 TMS Fall Meeting contains papers presented at a symposia to honor Julia R. Weertman, professor emerita at North-western University's department of materials science and engineering. The book is loosely divided into the five areas in which Dr. Weertman has made major scientific achievements: dislocations and cavitation, high-temperature deformation, physical metallurgy, mechanical metallurgy, and nanocrystalline materials.
