
A journal can become a very special tool that can be used by anyone to monitor their own progress, or to simply note how they feel in a safe way. Doing a little writing every day can result in a deeper understanding of why we are feeling certain emotions at different times in our lives. This allows us to understand the gentle ebb and flow of life without fear. Confirming that there will always be good and bad times throughout our lives.In my counselling practice, I found that it was important to find a way for clients to monitor their own progress as they worked to find solutions to their problems. By supplying weekly diary sheets, I gave my clients a way to look back on their progress, and I found that when my clients wrote down each day their changes in mood and behavior, it made an enormous difference in how they perceived their feelings.This book does not have to be a complete recording of all your negative experiences. You can also list the happenings and the people that you encounter in your day that cause you to feel grateful and blessed. You can note any random happy thought or event, allowing you to look back on your day and feel more joyous and optimistic about your life. If we have an opportunity to look back and see that perhaps we did have a good day or a good evening over the past week, then we may not be swamped with thoughts of a bleak future of anxious days and sleepless nights. That one remembered good day allows us to look forward to a future which contains happier and better times. Looking back over this upcoming year really could change your life.
