This unit considers quality, its relationship to the products of the software development process, and the importance of producing products that are fit for their purpose and of sufficiently high quality so that they meet the customer's requirements and expectations.This unit introduces verification and validation as ways of assessing the quality of a software product, and demonstrates how testing is the most important way of achieving these. This unit also examines the testing process, comprising unit, integration, system, acceptance and regression testing, as applied to object-orientated systems, and introduces the two main techniques for testing: black box and white box testing.
