"This book is designed to allow the life sciences teacher to bring female role models in science into the classroom so their work relates to topics in the typical middle/high school curriculum. Each activity provided here relates to these topics and to the content and recommended pedagogy outlined by the National Science Education Standards (NRC, 1996). A number of resources are provided in the appendices to facilitate the teacher's use of the role model modules published here and to explore other options for exanding the diversity and frequency of role models incorporated into classroom activities."
