Aaron's Odyssey is a story about obsessive love and drugs, and how each can take possession and eventually destroy the person—a multi-genre gay-romantic-psychotic thriller with erotic elements. Aaron—divorced, in his early 60s, and living in northern Vermont—meets Steve (40) online—and falls in love with the former male stripper and erotic dancer living in New York. Steve introduces Aaron to strip bars, sex clubs, inter-racial relationships, sex, and drugs. Without understanding his love for Steve, Aaron is confronted with Cecil—Steve's friend—also living in New York. Steve tells Aaron that Cecil is jealous, thus beginning Cecil's harassment, threats, and physical injuries to Steve that follow Aaron whenever and wherever he and Steve are together. To protect Steve, and severe the unnatural hold he believes Cecil has over his lover, Aaron buys a derelict historic house in his town—making Steve a co-owner—for Steve to redesign and renovate. The threats from Cecil continue, only stopping when Steve tells Aaron that Cecil is either staying with his sister in New Jersey or with his mother, in Alabama. To distract himself from what has become an obsessive love for Steve, Aaron enrolls in a creative writing program at a local college, writing stories and poems, and begins a thriller with a psychotic character. The reader follows the book-within-the-book as it progresses alongside Aaron's involvement with Steve and Steve's relationship with Cecil. When Aaron discovers a sawed-off tube in the bathroom, he realizes Steve has been a user of crystal meth. To give Steve a reason to give up the drug and become independent, Aaron encourages him to enroll in a design program in New York. But the drug now controls Steve, who acts irrationally and erratically. Aaron discovers a second phone that falls out of Steve's carryon Aaron is unpacking. When Aaron writes—in the book-within-the-book—that the sister of the murdered woman has
