This report begins the process of reporting on the status of Lepidoptera in British Columbia. The report includes information on the taxonomic status, biology, habitat, geographic distribution in North America & British Columbia, population size & trends, legal protection status, factors limiting species population, and special significance of five species: dun skipper (Euphyes vestris), island marble (Euchloe ausonides), Behr's hairstreak (Satyrium behrii), island blue (Plebejus saepiolus insulanus), and Taylor's checkerspot (Euphydryas editha taylori). Recommendations are made regarding further research and conservation status designation.
