Waterplantain buttercup (Ranunculus alismaefolius var. alismaefolius) inhabits open moist sites in western North America. In British Columbia, it is found only on southern Vancouver Island, at the northern part of its range. This report describes the general biology of this plant, its habitat, geographic distribution, population size and trends, protection status, factors limiting the population, and the special significance of the species.
