The Rome / Seicento: Towards the Baroque exhibition project, inaugurated in Beijing on April 29 at the National Museum of China, is the second appointment that Italy honors as part of the bilateral collaboration signed in the "Italy-China" Memorandum of Understanding. (7 October 2010), State agreement on the partnership for the promotion of the cultural heritage of the two countries. The extraordinary exhibition, following the one entitled The Renaissance in Florence: masterpieces and protagonists that spanned the fifteenth century to the early sixteenth century in Florence, continues in the thematic path of the great seasons of Italian art and presents to the Chinese public, for the first time, unrepeatable works of art, belonging to the Italian cultural heritage in its various expressive forms, which have come down to us intact thanks to the excellent protection action that our Ministry commits daily. At the exhibition event, set up at the National Museum of the famous Tiananmen Square, there are works of state property, from the major museums and the most important churches of Rome, ecclesiastical property, from the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere, and municipal property, from the Baroque Museum of Ariccia, as well as other organizations present in the Roman and Lazio territory. Thanks to the joint commitment of the competent Italian and Chinese authorities, the inauguration of this exhibition testifies and consolidates once again the bonds of friendship that bind the modern Republics on the basis of an ancient cultural heritage and a millenary history in which beauty it has become culture.
