Chinese Heritage in Northern Australia (CHINA Inc) is committed to promoting research and study into Chinese Australian experiences in northern Australia. Chinese contact with northern Australia extends over several centuries, starting with sporadic visits by traders and fishermen and culminating in the large-scale immigration of workers, miners, agriculturalists and business people during the 19th century. CHINA Inc, accordingly, offers this substantially enlarged publication, of selected papers from its biennial 'no fuss' conference held in Cairns, Queensland, Australia in 2014. The papers reflect the complexity and diversity of historical and heritage studies of Chinese settlement in the tropical north.
