The publication at hand is the 7th volume in this series which is published annually on the occasion of the International Conference on Dialysis organized by the Renal Research Institute, New York, in collaboration with the Department of Nephrology of the San Bortolo Hospital in Vicenza, Italy. As in the previous volumes, the focus remains on innovative technology, new therapies and continuous efforts to improve patient care, paying special attention to the physiological aspects of treatment. In particular, this latest volume concentrates on uremic toxins, discussing this puzzling problem from different points of view. Moreover, cardiovascular disease and its many facets, vascular access and practical questions in the dialysis unit are examined in depth. Covering a broad spectrum of topics, this publication is thus a most helpful reference tool for both clinicians and basic investigators involved in hemodialysis.
