Between 1703 and 1863, Swiss artists were likely to leave their country to train in Paris. Who were they? What did they do? The systematic use of archives brings together all the documentation related to the 400 Swiss artists trained in the French capital. The critical content in this book explores their motivations initially, the conditions of their stay, and their artistic training, participation in Fairs and professionalisation, and the implementation of their artistic capital on their return to Switzerland.
