Witness for the Defense: Tales with Twists and Turns is a collection of seventeen short stories. The author, Richard May, spent thirty-nine years practicing law in Delaware before retiring to read, write and fish his favorite Pennsylvania trout streams. The title story was inspired by his witnessing a master trial lawyer destroy a hostile witness during a deposition and revisiting Charles Laughton’s Academy Award nominated performance in Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution. The other stories were inspired by his personal experiences with friends and family. They all share a touch of surprise as they twist and turn to unexpected conclusions.
