Executing Psychobiography Appealed To Me Initially For The Title Of This Book. The Words Executing Psychobiography Would Be Welcome To The Many Critics Of Psychobiography. They Would Think, Finally Someone Is Talking About Getting Rid Of That Darn Field. But, If They Looked At This Book, They Would Be Disappointed. They Would See That My Intention Is Not To Liquidate Psychobiography But Rather To Examine What Makes For Successful, Compelling, High-quality Psychobiography. In My Imagined Title, I Would Be Using The Term Executing Psychobiography In The Sense Of Carrying It Out Or Producing It. I Grant That The Critics Are Not All Wrong In Their Negativity Toward Psychobiography; Many Of The Works Are Poorly Thought Out, Reductionistic, Dogmatic, Or Inadequately Researched. Hence There Is A Need For A Thoughtful Consideration Of What The Possible Problems Are In Writing Psychobiography And How They Can Be Avoided-- Provided By Publisher.
