Not illustrated. 1879 Excerpt:...The words refer to the leaven and honey mentioned in v. 11 which might lie offered amongst the firstfruits and tithes (Ileut. xxvi. 2, 12; cp. 2 Chr. xxxi. 5). Honey, being used to produce fermentation, and leaven (or, a small piece of fermented dough) were excluded because fermentation was an apt symbol of the working of corruption in tne human heart. 13. with all thine offerings thou shall offer salt Not only every Minchah, but every animal offering was to be accompanied by salt. It was the one symbol which w.-us never absent from the Altar of Burnt-offering, showing the iniperishableness of the love of Jehovah for His people. In its unalterable nature, it is the contrary of leaven.
