A teaching unit for middle school students, based on historical documents of the Herschel family, formerly of the Netherlands. This material features primary source documents written by Nico Herschel in Nazi-occupied Netherlands. Herschel, whose family was forced to move from his hometown Zwolle, Netherlands, to the Ghetto of Amsterdam in January 1943, drew a "Life Calendar" for his newborn son, Tswi.
