This small book on Hawaiian breadfruit, or 'ulu, is an improved and upgraded re-edition of our original 2004 publication. By adding two new authors, Joannie Dobbs and Noa Lincoln, we have substantially upgraded the nutrition section and provided much new material on 'ulu agronomy and cultural ecology in the archipelago, including on yields, probable ancient distribution, and modern tree management. Since so much has changed in the last 20 years, we also added a section on the modern uses and significance of 'ulu in the islands. This book will be of great service to anyone wishing to learn more about Hawaiian breadfruit - whether you're a longtime kama¿¿ina wishing to plant a tree in your yard, a farmer searching for additional information on how it can best be grown as well as harvested and marketed as a crop, or someone just now discovering 'ulu seeking to familiarize yourself with its cultural, historical, and culinary virtues. There is a very substantial new interest being shown toward 'ulu in Hawai'i and we have done our best to capture this enthusiasm and transmit it to our readers.
