Fleeta and the Goblin Queen is a 64 page collection of comics and prose providing a little known and under-utilized public domain character from a 1967 DELL comic book with a personality and milieu. Originally appearing in the short lived DELL Dracula comic, B.B.Beebe was the lab assistant and girlfriend of a super heroic descendant of Dracula. After drinking a bat-serum, B.B. herself gains the powers of Dracula. Donning a costume, she joins him in the fourth and final issue, taking the name Fleeta, a derivative of Fledermaus. And that's it.Published by InDELLible Comics, a small comics house devoted to updating and bringing long lost public domain characters to comics buyers hungry for heroes expressing the traditional virtues of the Golden and Silver Ages, Fleeta has appeared briefly in the flagship All-New Popular Comics title to considerable popularity. In Fleeta and the Goblin Queen writer and artist Marvin Mann grabs the reins and with the assistance of InDELLible EiC and writer David Noe, and artist Tyne Delwiche (whose turn on "Fleeta and the Ice Child" is a charming and affecting gem at the heart of the book) taking the titular heroine from cipher to fleshed out heroine. In doing so, Mann shows a wide range of story tone and art styles, and demonstrates just how far public domain characters can be pushed when a creator is not too closely bound to their shallow origins.Mann touches on the super hero tradition in "Fleeta's Difficult Day" conjuring a crippling moral challenge to a heroine attempting to adhere to the classic superhero injunction to never take a life. But overall, Fleeta enters a world of fantasy and magic as Mann liberally dips into Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky poem as inspiration for friends and foes alike. While often light-hearted, as in the opener "Well-Suited for Battle" a sort of try out for a costume upgrade inspired by EiC David Noe; a few off-handed comments about "the Goblin Queen" and one "Aunt Minerva" set Mann and Fleeta off on an emot
