Photojournalist Santiago Mesa Rico, who worked in the newspaper El Colombiano and in Q'hubo Medellín, made a compendium in images of painful stories that represent a graphic record of the violent reality lived everyday in the city of Medellín. Sensationalism -or sensationalist journalismʺ- becomes impossible in a city permanently delineated by this police yellow tape [no pase" (do not cross)]. What this [tape] tries to keep from our eyes is what the images in this book denounce, disseminate and portray without filters. They simply direct their gaze to a reality that goes beyond that barricade tape and concerns us all.ʺ (HKB Translation) --Page [6].
