That is the reason why some of you who take one or two at night feel so bad in the morning. In Belgium the men found out that the malster had been done away with, that everything of that character was manufactured out of chemicals, and the only way they could get pure beer was t5 manufacture it themselves. So they established their own brewery, and today in Belgium about the only pure beer comes from the co-operative brewery In Great Britain the movement--and I am speaking of that because I am more familiar with it than any other--is typical of the movement in Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria-Hungary and all the Scandinavian countries. They established this movement, and here is what they have done: Today the greatest source of strength the trade union movement has in those countries, outside of their own unions, to help them win every battle they go into, is the co-operative movement. As you know, they have a Shop Assistants' Union in Great Britain. It is the only country in the world where the clerks are practically thoroughly organized. The only reason for that is the cooperative movement. The co-operative movement has employed union men and women in all its branches and that has forced the independent concerns to do likewise in order to hold their trade.
