A color atlas that presents the different surgical approaches to the temporal bone and lateral skull base in a step-by-step fashion, supplemented by photos of temporal bone dissection (to present the surgical anatomy of each approach without the distortion of an existing pathology). The five chapters present general guidelines for drilling; surgery of the middle ear and mastoid; surgery for vertigo; lateral skull base surgery; and facial management in neuro-otology and skull base surgery. Each approach is preceded by an introductory note on relevant anatomy. The indications, hints, and pitfalls presented are based on Sanna's personal experiences over the years with these surgeries.
