
How many times have you said to yourself: "This or that leader could have done things this way or that way to easily achieve this or that expected set of goals for the benefit of the community"? Do you find yourself being asked to lead others but have no clue what type of leadership definition and style to adopt? There are quite a number of definitions of leadership in literature. However, most of them are derived based on the style of leadership designed to meet specific tasks and to achieve particular set of targets. Would the leadership definition evolved for a particular leadership style work for your personality and ideas? Should your leadership style be defined by pre-existing definitions of the subject? Probably not.Individual human behaviour may be regulated from the outside and from the inside. Enforceable laws and regulations represent the outside. The unenforceables, internalised values, attitudes and obligations, represent the inside. As individuals and a society we need both. Human dignity as the Core Value of Democracy is the leading star that should lead our actions on all levels. The individual as well as societies need to be creative in finding ways and actions that are based on and strengthen human dignity. Entrepreneurship and democracy are closely linked because they are two dimensions of personal freedoms, relating to and reinforcing each other. Entrepreneurship is a universal human qualification including the attitude to life characterised by preparedness and courage to act in a variety of contexts. This presupposes openness, daring and the will to take calculated risks when entering new fields. Entrepreneurship may be a strategic resource in local communities, fostering people with fresh ideas who can see opportunities and who have the ability to turn dreams into reality and make things happen.
