The viability of variable air volume (VAV) system retrofits forconstant volume air distribution systems with reheat is examined. The aspects considered are fan capacity controls, building staticpressure regulation, miniumum outside air supply, adequacy ofexisting ductwork and terminal unit operation. Potentialproblems with low air movement are identified. Recommendationsto examine alternatives to VAV are given.
