Based on interviews and traditional Beti (Fang) poetry, in addition to German and French archival sources, this book aims to recreate the social structure of the Beti, Bantu-speaking migrants to central Cameroon. It also looks at their self-perceptions in pre-colonial times, their encounters with colonialism, until Cameroon's independence.
