The second edition of this annual compendium of statistics covers all aspects of housing in England. Where consistent data are available, tables also cover Great Britain and the UK. Much of the data is collected from routine returns from Local Authorities, or in two large surveys carried out for the Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, the Survey of English Housing and the Survey of Mortgage Lenders. The data covers: dwelling stock and housebuilding by tenure; private sector housing renewal activities; homelessness; data on Local Authority dwellings, such as sales, transfers, expenditure, receipts, and vacant dwellings; household and population projections; stock and completions in the EU; land and house prices; information related to mortgages, Local Authority and Registered Social Landlords rents, lettings and vacancy rates. All regional and national figures shown are mainly estimates.
