The last in a four-volume series of primary sources, "A View from Abroad in the 20th Century" traces America's historical development through the eyes of foreign visitors, critics, and travelers. These reporters hold their own particular point of view, neither right nor wrong, merely different from ours. They view America with perspectives shaped by different values, traditions, and institutions – perspectives that enrich our own understanding and appreciation of America.
