Summer in small-town South Carolina in 1972 leaves a lot to be desired, but Aiken Destry and his pals manage to find plenty to keep them busy. Riding bikes, swimming, and avoiding local thugs become full-time efforts. It's a season that sees them grow up fast. Even so, nothing can prepare them for the devastating curve balls their small world is about to hurl at them.
