(5 t5 «i5 On the evening of December 5, 1914, the Phi Beta Kappa Chapter at the University of Pennsylvania held its first initiation under the new regulations. At the last annual business meeting in June the report of a committee on initiation was accepted and this committee's proposed ritual was adopted. The committee consisted of Prof. George Egbert Fisher, Professor Roland Grubb Kent, and Mr. Randolph G. Adams of the class of 1914; the proposed ritual was the result of careful investigation into past records and the first use of it on the evening of December 5th demonstrated its excellence. Four men of the class of 1915 were initiated. The ceremonies were conducted in Houston Hall and following the formal initiation there was a general reception with a number of addresses: the earnest and cordial tenor of these indicated the hold Phi Beta Kappa is gaining at the university and it was a real privilege to hear from Dean Quinn. Dr. C. M. Montgomery, Professors Crawford, Newbold and Nolan, Mr. R. G. Adams, and Mr. Robert Ewing Dengler. A number of letters of regret were read, received from Mr. Morris L. Clothier, Professor H. V. Ames, E. P. Cheyney, Carl Kelsey, F. E. Schelling, and Mr. F.McM. Breniser. Prof. Horace C.
