Being undead in this modern age comes with its own set of challenges. Most zombies get pronounced legally dead at one point or another and can’t obtain normal jobs anymore. They have to buy copious amounts of makeup and perfume to disguise themselves among the living. And worst of all, they have to leave behind their family and old friends or risk discovery by the rest of the population.To feel normal for just a little while, Abigail Marsh and the other zombie friends that she’s made, get together once a month for book club. Usually, they meet in Elijah Taylor’s restaurant called The Carrion—a restaurant specifically designed to cater to undead clientele. But when The Carrion gets temporarily shut down due to a pest problem, the book club is forced to meet at a local Starbucks.Abigail has been to this Starbucks in the past, always admiring a particular barista from afar. Today, surrounded by her undead friends, she may finally be forced to confront her feelings. Can a zombie girl fall in love with a living man without any hearts being broken? Or is this potential love affair doomed from the start?
