The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly catalogue reveals 1,556 publicly owned oil paintings from 54 collections across the county and archipelago off Land's End. The largest single collection is the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro with just over 400 paintings. Other significant holdings are found at Penlee House Gallery and Museum in Penzance and Falmouth Art Gallery. The smaller collections include volunteer-run museums, hospitals, libraries, town councils and two fire stations.
