
The is the first translation of Tomash Masaryk (1850-1937), philosopher and sociologist, the first president of the Czech Republic (1918-1935), who visited Russia twice in 1887 and 1888. The second volume of this collection includes four chapters from the second volume and one part from the third volume of Masaryk's collected works. These chapters deal with the philosophical views and systems of Bakunin, Chernyshevskii, Dobroliubov, Pisarev, Lavrov, Mikhailovskii, Katkov, Pobedonostsev, Leont'ev, Vl. Solov'ev, Kropotkin, and the main directions and schools in the Russian philosophy of history and religion of the nineteenth century. Also included is an afterword about Masaryk by M. Abramov, E.
