Author Description

This introductory textbook examines how communication is used to govern a nation or society. It examines political communication from the perspective of citizens rather than speakers, so the reader learns about interdependence between leaders and individuals. Emphasis on communities rather than individual leaders allows students to see the United Stated as a "community of communities" - different interest groups - some dominating for a time and eventaully giving way to others with leaders being governed by these communities.
