Author Description

Open Court Reading Writing Activities will strengthen students' writing skills by connecting the activities to the techniques used by authors in the Open Court Reading Anthology selections. The techniques addressed include word choice, flashback, similes, and metaphors. Students will identify the techniques and then use it in their own writing. This will give students additional practice in writing and a better understanding of the author's purpose and style. In addition, students will learn writing and planning strategies and practice self-regulating techniques that will help them in their writing across curriculum.
