Did you know Berkeley has some 136 paths, steps and walkways? Published by the Berkeley Path Wanderers Association (BPWA), this map shows them all both passable and impassable and includes their official names and Berkeley City assigned numbers. It also covers parts of paths continuing into Oakland, Albany and Kensington. BPWA, a volunteer group of community members, assists with surveying and mapping the paths; scouting out needs for signage and repairs; organizing work groups to maintain and improve paths; and seeks new funds for restoring paths and building new ones. 2007 edition adds Berkeley Street Index, 5 new opened paths, more trails in Strawberry Canyon, updated Santa Fe Right of Way and Bay Trail and more trails in East Shore State Park. Features current and historical creeks, easy-to-read type, a complete index of paths and is printed on durable, waterproof paper.
