Author Description

In this lyrical, evocative novel, Hyat is a woman from ancient Makkah, and though her name means "life" she is associated with death. For her, tombs and dreams are doors to another life, where she becomes a truly free being, moving backward and forward through time and place and species. Each night, after visits to the famous ancient tombs of the East, Hyat embroiders, creating windows on that vast mythic and magic other life.
