The predominant mechanism for delivery is iontophoresis, although electroosmosis and electroporation have also been investigated. This Technique employed an innovative self-contained battery that produces an electric current to carry drug molecules non-invasively across the skin and to underlying tissue. Clinical benefits, industry interest, regulatory precedence, and strong market potential have made transdermal iontophoretic research the fast growth area in drug delivery.
