Henri is banished. He should have seen it coming: Laurent lost his trust in him and replaced him with Brigitta and Dmitri, their family’s enemies. As soon as Henri reclaims his horse and acquires enough coin to set sail from Waterford, he will make his own way. He will go somewhere more exotic, more foreign. Somewhere no one knows anything about him or his family. Unless his thief-turned-friend signs him up for Lord Bressel’s tournament. Bressel’s daughter is seeking marriage. The victor, probably a knight, will inherit his lordship’s title. With his own pride on the line, Henri takes the challenge. He’ll not win, but he will prove he is not the inept foreigner they all think he is. Alexandre needs no convincing. He is far more concerned with whom Henri will prove his character to be. In fact, together they may have the potential to bring about prophesies more immense than their own greatest dreams.
