Product Description Original Poetry and Illustrations. Review "Richards reconnoiters a fugitive terrain whose inhabitants are disturbingly familiar and unsettlingly memorable particularly the women, lithe and button-breasted or forty with stretchmarks or old and bony, wise and tolerant or buoyant under you, as he put is, like a small craft. Richards' craft, however, is considerable buoyant and grave by turns yet, like his women, consistently tender, tolerant and wise." -- Donald Finkel "Tad Richards is the Tom Waits of contemporary poetry gritty, original, and great fun." -- Nancy Willard "Tad Richards' poems are generous and appealing, venturing into that realm on the borders of prose, unafraid of narrative and even of humor, where they engage the world in a way that is instructive and enlightening. This is a most impressive and delightful collection, the work of a poised and mature talent. -- David R. Slavitt About the Author As a writer, Tad Richards non-poetry credits include music and money. For the former, he is the author of The New Country Music Encyclopedia, Simon and Schuster, 1993, and is a contributor of articles on rhythm and blues, country, jazz and classic pop to the forthcoming St. James Encylopedia of Popular Culture; he teaches courses in the blues, and has had songs recorded by Orleans, John Hall, and Fred Koller. His work was included in Sweet Nothings (U. of Indiana Press), an anthology of poetry about rock 'n' roll. For the latter, he has written a series of books with money maven Neale S. Godfrey. He describes his relationship with money as "much like Carl Sagan's relationship with the cosmos-I can write about it, I can claim a certain expertise about it, but I can't get close to it." He has also written novels and screenplays. He is married, has three children, two stepchildren, and four grandchildren.
